These changes need to be considered in future for product design and testing. The new standard will continue to be used with the current Part 2 standards, which cover requirements for particular luminaire types.
  • Marking and requirements for the use of self shielding lamps and UV protection.
  • Requirements for SELV circuits in Class III luminaires: wiring, insulation, accessibility, touch current and exposure to water.
  • Touch current, protective earth current and burn current: a new section replacing leakage current requirements.
  • Hot surface temperatures: relating to adjustable luminaire when accessible after mounting.
  • Terminal blocks with integrated direct earth connection to the mounting surface: requirements and tests.
  • Marking requirements for any replaceable internal fuses.
  • Access to basic insulation of luminaires; and access to SELV parts, new requirements.
  • New markings where luminaires are not suitable for marking on normally flammable surfaces or where not to be covered by thermal insulation material.
  • Torque requirements for lampholders subject to rotary action in used and single means for fixing.
  • Requirement for protection of lamps from splashing water.
